Monapali
Mona and Pali share a home and a cause: Designing. They were amongst the first few designers to hit the Indian catwalk nearly two decades ago, creating a niche for themselves. The designers started from home in 1985 at the behest of their friends, who persuaded them to design clothes, which they executed competently and successfully. In 1987, they flagged off their boutique ‘Monapali’ in Kolkata making their dream a reality. Thereafter, there was no looking back as they moved on to become stalwarts of the Indian Fashion industry retailing through their outlets in Kolkata, New Delhi, Ahmedabad as well as other prestigious showrooms like Ffolio, Ensemble, Elahi, 7, The Design Lounge, Westside and Kimaya across the country. The designers offer a variety: a couture line, a diffusion range and a pret collection. Their clothes are an eclectic mix of design elements inspired from the ethnic cultural roots of India. What makes the designs distinctly Monapali is an unconventional mix of mediums; be it textures, textiles, prints or embroidery. |
