‘Sufi Qawwali’ by Routes2Roots in association with ICCR and Sufi Kathak foundation

Reaching out across the world Routes2roots in association with ICCR and Sufi Kathak foundation revived the eternal classic with “Understanding Qawwali”, seminar on the traditional art form of Qawwals, which was held on 2nd March’13 at IIC, Rose Garden by Qawwals Janab Wajahat Hussain Badayuni and group, the traditional Qawwals from Awadh and Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali group from Pakistan.

Their soulful voice had spread the magic on their fans and kept them mesmerized; songs were the gift of the soil of Delhi to the world, and these two groups were both deeply personal and completely universal in spirit.
Rakesh Gupta, Founder Routes 2 Roots says, “Today Sufi is the order of the day and qawwali has been the tradition where qawwals use to sing in mosques and shrines. Sufi Kathak Foundation, ICCR and Routes 2 Roots bring this fulfilling program to disseminate the information and understanding of qawwali for the sufi music lovers.”

Tina Vachani, Founder Routes 2 Roots says, “Our NGO has always believed in instigating the soul of music lovers through sufi music from across the border. This program brings the knowledge and history of Qawwali, which today has become very popular and reached the hearts of all age groups unlike other forms of traditional music.”
