Krishan vs Kanhaiya, a theatre play starring Paresh Rawal

Under which category do you fall, a God-loving or a God-fearing person?

The play Krishan vs Kanhaiya, starring veteran actor Paresh Rawal, is a fund raiser organised by SUMAITRI, the only crisis intervention centre for the depressed and suicidal in Delhi. It would be an eye opener for all the people beholding blind faith and helping commercialise religion.

It opens up with Krishanlal, an antique-shop owner in Mumbai who sells, among other things, idols of Hindu Gods. He exploits the religious beliefs of his customers and, without qualms, formulates stories of the idols' origins to sell them off for hefty profits. A non-believer, he never misses the chance to make fun of wife Sushila's and servant Vasant's devotion to God.

However, his life takes a turn when an earthquake destroys his store and he is denied his insurance claim because his policy doesn't cover damages caused by an act of God. Krishanlal then decides to sue God to recover his money. Acting as his own lawyer, he sets out to prove in court that since God doesn't exist, the clause in the policy should be considered void, compelling the insurance company to pay up.

In the midst of the case, Krishanlal gets an unexpected visitor, Lord Krishna himself. The rest of the play charts the businessman's transformation in a way, which is thought provoking as well as highly entertaining.
