‘The Treat’ recalled the memories of Kaka on his birthday

Rajesh Khanna is still alive in the heart of people. Many of Rajesh Khanna’s fans celebrated his birthday. Vipin Kumar Oberoi, one of the biggest fans of Kaka, celebrated his birthday with other followers at his food kiosk ‘The Treat’, which was inaugurated by the legendry actor himself in late 90's.

This fan's story is no ordinary. Oberoi was a die hard fan of Kaka, who used to tell his friends that some day he will befriend Rajesh Khanna. His much-awaited dream turned into reality when he met Rajesh on the set of his film Ashanti in 1981. After that Kumar helped Rajesh Khanna in his political endeavour when he contested Lok Sabha polls from New Delhi in 90’s. The legendry actor then later advised his friend to open this food kiosk and named it as ‘The Treat’. A nostalgic Vipin Oberoi, owner of ‘The Treat’, says “I remember the good old days when i used to collect his pictures and when I got a chance to meet him I was so thrilled. I showed him the collection and he was shocked and overwhelmed. That incidence laid the foundation of our friendship. Several times he asked me as to why don’t I join politics? I used to tell him that I would prefer polishing the shoe rather than join politics; I just want to be associated with you. Then he advised me to enter into the hospitality business and gifted me this food van and inaugurated it at Janpath. Later on I shifted it to Chanakyapuri.”

He recalls another interesting incident that showed how much Kaka valued his relations. Oberoi says, “During the inauguration of the van he was saying that this is my shop and I am the partner in this, but few college girls said that you are saying just like that if you are the partner in this shop, then why don't you serve us the food? Without hesitating he served the food to the whole group of girls.”

The celebration began with the fans cutting the cake for the "First Superstar" of Indian c,inema. Later musical night and video showcasing Kaka's was played which brought tears to many eyes. The famous dialog from the movie Anand "Babu Mushay" was on the lips of every fan. ‘The Treat’ also served the variety of food, which Mr.Khanna use to have at the kiosk. Mr. Oberoi said "From music to visuals, foods to ambiance, I just want to relive those wonderful memories and time which I spend with my alma mater".
