A R Rahman wins Oscars

Indian music maestro A R Rahman has brought glory to India after winning two Oscars awards for his movie, Slumdog Millionaire. The movie has won total eight Oscars including Best Picture award at the 81st Academy Award function in Los Angeles. Rahman won the two Oscars for the best original score and his foot-tapping number Jai Ho for the movie.

“I just want to thank again, the whole crew of Slumdog Millionaire, especially Danny Boyle for giving me such a great opportunity,” said Rahman. Rahman shared the best song award with lyricist Gulzar. He has become the first Indian to win two Oscars.

While Simon Beaufoy got Best Adapted Screenplay award for the movie, Anthony Dod Mantle bagged Oscar for Best Cinematography and Danny Boyle won the best director Oscar for the movie.

Resul Pookutty won the Oscar for the Best Sound Mixing for the movie. Chris Dickens bagged Oscar in the Best Film Editing Category for Slumdog Millionaire and Resul Pookutty, sound engineer from Kerala, won the Oscar in the Sound Mixing category.

Adding to India’s joy, Smile Pinki, bagged the prestigious award in the short documentary category.
