Leading jewellery designer, Varuna D Jani made a ‘Hat Trick’ of awards this year after winning ‘The Best Diamond Vivah Jewelery Award 2009’. She won the most prestigious award at Retail Jeweller India award, recently concluded in Mumbai.

These awards herald to the world the coming age of the Indian Gems and Jewellery industry and are positioned as the Oscars of the industry. Varuna has already won the ‘Women Super Achiever in Asia Award’ and ‘Brand Leadership Award’.

Chosen by an eclectic mix of jury employing a vigorous methodology, the winners of India's most widely participated jewellery retail awards, were honoured in a grand ceremony. The judges, Priya Tanna (Editor, Vogue, India), Poonam Soni (Leading Jewellery designer) and Namrata Joshipura (Leading Fashion designer) brought together fresh perspective from fields of media, design and fashion.

The jewellery industry was well represented by the recognised set of judges, who have served the industry for years -  Prasad Kapre – Co-Chairman, FICCI,  Dharmesh Sodah - Director, World Gold Council and Vaishali Banerjee – Manager (India) Platinum Guild International.

The ceremony also honoured Mehul Choksi, Chairman, Gitanjali Group with the coveted ‘Special Contribution to the Gems and Jewellery Industry of India Award’. The award is attended by the top retail jewelers of India from over 75 cities.
