Lahore movie director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan receives National Award

Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan receives the Indira Gandhi Award For Best Debut Film of A Director at the 57th National Film Awards function from The Honr. President of India, Smt Pratibha Devisingh Patil in a grand ceremony in New Delhi.

Sanjay won the award for his first film ‘Lahore’, which already had won many International Awards. Sanjay was honoured with a ‘Swarna Kamal’ and a cash prize of Rs 1, 25,000/ - and Producer Mr Vivek Khatkar of Sai Om Films Pvt. Ltd was also honoured with the same. Actor Farooq Shekh also received Best Supporting Actor award for Sanjay’s film ‘Lahore’.

The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Smt. Ambika Soni and the Ministers of State for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Choudhury Mohan Jatua and Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan were also seen.

“This is a very special moment for me. I am honoured and deeply touch by getting the National Award for Lahore. It is the ultimate encouragement and faith in the first movie I made. I am glad that Lahore with its simple storyline won the heart of the international and national audience. I hope that I keep up with the expectations of everyone in the future. Though, it is going to take some time to sink in the fact that I have won a National Award for my first attempt in the field that I truly love.” is what Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan says on his achievement.

Lahore had already won many international awards, including Best Feature Film Jury’s Award at the 42nd World Fest (Houston), Most Aspiring Filmmaker at International Filmmaker Fest (UK), Best Actor Award at Salento International Film Festival (Italy), Best Actor Award at Tenerife International Film Festival Award (UK) and six nominations including Best Picture and Best Director at Asian Fest of First Film (Singapore).

The young and kinetic Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan who has made an excellent debut with his film ‘Lahore’ has won the hearts of the Indian and international audiences. He was a successful kick boxer and played internationally. The talented film maker wants to promote the Indian Cinema, at a global level. He promises to make a meaningful commercial cinema which has a realistic concept.

The astonishing part about him is that he has never undergone any training in film direction. He has broken a myth that a person who has never assisted to any director and have not done any direction courses and cannot direct a good film. His movie Lahore was his first ever experience in Bollywood sets.

Sanjay made it through without any Godfather. He came he saw and he conquered’ with his vigilance and power to grab global attention for Bollywood. He is confident that he will bring a sizeable and exciting sampling of the future of Indian cinema with his upcoming ventures. He is currently working on a science fiction movie wiht a realistic theme, which has never been attempted by any Indian filmmaker.
