Indian design outfits to showcase in World of WearableArt Show

Three Indian design outfits have been short listed to be showcased at New Zealand’s most coveted fashion arts extravaganza, Montana World of WearableArt (WOW) 2008.
Through an endeavour between the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Tourism New Zealand, seven Indian designs were created for WOW 2008, where the three short listed for their creativity, innovation and theatrical impact.

The three Indian creations, which have been short listed for the 2008 Montana World of WearableArt™ (WOW®) Awards Show in Wellington, are:
1. Emerald tentacles designed by NP Jayaraj & Pooja Bedi of Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi.                                                                                                                      2. I the Centre by Pooja Gosain of NIFT, New Delhi.
3. Cockroach Bra by Pooja Rajput of SNDT College, Mumbai.

These three entries will further compete with international entries in September in Wellington, New Zealand. Stated Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, “FDCI aims at providing a platform to the Indian fashion design fraternity for access to national and international recognition and appreciation. I am very pleased that the young talent of the country is being showcased at such a renowned forum, which will further strengthen India’s position in the global fashion and art arena.”

This year, FDCI signed an MoUwith the World of WearableArt Ltd to encourage design students and professionals in India to showcase their creative talent before an international audience. FDCI will also provide a cash award of Rs. 30,000 each to the designs short listed by international judges in New Zealand. This received an overwhelming response with young designers from across the country entering WOW® 2008.
