18 designers to showcase for the first time at WIFW

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week announced the names of 18 designers participating for the very first time at WIFW. Like every season, FDCI gives an opportunity to aspiring as well as eminent designers to experience India’s only ‘Business of Fashion’ event, the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2009.

This list includes some of the well-known names like AG2 by Adarsh Gill and Sanchita Ajjampur from the Indian fashion industry, who have showcased their collections in India and overseas. The forthcoming WIFW will also showcase collections of the Accessory designers Art Apparel and Accessories by Shelina & Camelia and Priyanka Murarka Jool Kurry for the first time.

Announcing the names of the designers participating at the WIFW S/S 2009, Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, said, “WIFW is a prestigious launch pad for the emerging designers to showcase the best of Indian design talent globally. It provides them with a crucial introduction to buyers from across the globe and key members of the fashion industry. We at FDCI welcome our new partners at WIFW to experience country’s only B-2-B event.”

The names of these 18 designers are Abdul Halder, AG2 by Adarsh Gill, Anupamaa, Art Apparel and Accessories by Shelina & Camelia, Ashii by Ashima Singh, Blue Coral by Parvesh & Jai, Form Debarun, Gaurav & Ritika, Hemant & Nandita, Priyanka Murarka Jool Kurry, Joy Mitra, Nida Mahmood, Nisha Merchant, Raakesh Agarvwal, Rohit Mittal, Sanchita, Umesh Vashisht and Urvashi Kaur.

Said Atul Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC's Lifestyle Retailing, “We have already received an overwhelming response from the designer fraternity for the event and I am sure that the younger talent to be showcased in this edition will add a lot of freshness and zing to the event.”

The mega event will take place from 15-19 October 2008, at  Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
