New faces to dazzle the runway at WIFW

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week announced the list of new faces that would walk the runway for the first time at India’s leading business of fashion event.

Of the 226 participants, only 15 models were short listed from the all-India model auditions for the WIFW ‘New Faces Going Places’ category. These 12 females and 3 males models are young, confident and ready to don garments designed by stalwarts of the fashion industry and take on the fashion world at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week from October 15-19, 2008.

The new faces in the female category walking the WIFW runway include Carina, Malika, Lekha, Sangeeta Chauhan, Dannielle, Krishna,Karima, Kapila, Alesia, Priyanka Shah, Barbara and Alma. The new faces in the male category walking the WIFW runway include Adhiraj,Aishwary and Rahul.

After the gruelling competition at the auditions, only those with style, panache and grit were short listed by the jury comprising Rohit Gandhi, Ranna Gill, Vidyun Singh, Milind Soman and Sunil Sethi. 

Announcing the names of the models, Sunil Sethi, President — FDCI said, “WIFW is a platform that showcases only the best talent from the fashion industry. Models are important agents for showcasing fashion wear. They have to project a certain look on stage depending on the line of clothing being promoted. Models walking the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week runway comprise both established names and future faces of tomorrow.”

Atul Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC's Lifestyle Retailing, said, “The auditions have drawn on fresh talent from across the country and I am sure the new faces discovered during the auditions will go places.”

Said Vidyun Singh, ace choreographer, “Every year we audition hundreds of models and every year the quality of models seems to get better. They are not coming in completely raw, they have a certain amount of experience and after the WIFW they are fully trained.”
