Kolkata based fashion designer, Joytee Khaitan will be showcasing her collection in LFW SPRING SUMMER 2009 on 21st Oct, 2008 at 11.30am, where famous model, Indrani Dasgupta will walk the ramp.

The theme of the collection is Faux Bauhaus Chic, which is inspired from the conscious appreciation of the Bauhaus movement that took place in Germany.

The collection starts with the green, rust, yellow ochre, harmonious brown then to white, blue, grey highlighted with tones of pink, purple and orange and finally ending in white, beige, and black. Black is new white of the season.

The collection is divided into three categories. It starts with the look inspired by plantation workers with garments having sporty details then moves on to the more opulent and rich look taking simple geometrical elements and juxtaposing them with the peasant look and finally culminates with the feel of industrial work wear mixed with the period costumes.

The collection starts with sporty details and silhouettes having a hint of balloon shapes and enveloped shapes merged with plantation work wear.  Long shirts, draped trousers, knotted skirts, Zouave inspired churidaars, trouser and fitted tops set in.

In the last phase, the origamic pleats mixed with the period costumes, trinolines inspiring the shape of the garments, drape in the sarees with lots of pleating and surface texture being the constant detailing of the whole collection.

Predominantly linen, georgette, chiffon, nets, and handloom cotton has been used with other fabrics of various textures.
