Ruchi Mehta to showcase her collection at LFW

Delhi based fashion designer Ruchi Mehta will showcase her collection under her label 'salt' at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai on 20th October 2008.

A subtle palette of textures with unique detailed embellishment is the hallmark of her label, 'salt'. The look this season is very flirty, more experimental and decidedly holiday. The inspiration of the collection was a beach honeymoon. The shapes, as always, are easy and skim the body with grace, to be worn on their own or over swimwear.

From short shifts and dresses to over-long cover ups and tunics, the sense of surprise and excitement is retained. Colours are soft and textured and there is an intimate play of transparency & translucency of silk, layering on chiffons and cut working on opaques to create another dimension on the clothes.

It's a very sea, sun and sand look, a lot of pebble and palm inspired motifs in the embroidery with sparkle details to take it into the evening. The colour palette is soft and feminine, from beige to sand, taupe, silver going to mauve, brown and ocean.

The label salt was launched in London in 2003 and the collection was chosen to be part of the Asian Dreams runway show which showcases Asian designers in the UK organised by Newham College of Further Education.

The prêt –a porter show in Paris last September was the beginning of a new phase for the fashion label. She caught the interest of the buyers, fashionistas and media alike with her collection 'Kick The Addiction' (S/S 08) and 'Travel Collection' (F/W 08) at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.

The label has since made a place for itself in over 150 galleries across UK including Bottega Ltd, Fenwicks and Black Orchid Ltd. With the experience of supplying to high street brands like Jigsaw in the UK, Australia and New York, the company has come of age.

In India, the label is to be found at Cinnamon in Bangalore, Bungalow 8 and Mélange in Mumbai, Amethyst in Chennai, Anonym in Hyderabad and the Devigarh Fort Palace in Devigarh and her studio in Delhi.
