Bollywood’s favourite designer Manish Malhotra will display a fresh Winter/Festive line in a scintillating opening show on his home ground. A Bollywood costume designer, a stylist, a couturier, Manish Malhotra has successfully established himself as a multi-faceted designer over the years and has emerged as the industry’s go-to-person for celebrities and fashion icons in India and around the world.
 

Fashion legend and LFW discovery, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, will present his collection as the Grand Finale designer at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. A renowned name both in India and abroad, Sabyasachi’s Finale presentation is set to be one of the season’s most awaited shows, after a hiatus of five years.
 

 The upcoming season promises to celebrate this momentous milestone with a reunion of Lakmé Fashion Week Gen Next alumni. Alumni from the past 16 seasons will come together to celebrate the contribution that this program has made towards shaping the Indian fashion industry.
 

 The Indian Textile Day has been a dedicated feature as part of Lakmé Fashion Week’s continued endeavour to celebrate Indian textiles and crafts. This season will once again pay tribute to the rich heritage of Indian fabrics through two specially curated shows and a devoted workshop:
 
Indian Weavers show: In a one of its kind partnership with Maharashtra State Handlooms Association, designers Shruti Sancheti and Soumitra Mondal, who have worked very closely with the weavers in rural Maharashtra and Orissa respectively, will curate a unique show displaying the depth, beauty and richness of Indian weaves and demonstrate how they play a pivotal role in the Indian fashion industry.
 
Designer Krishna Mehta to showcase Manipuri Handlooms: In an attempt to revive the traditional handloom weaving skill of Manipur, an indispensable aspect of the socio-economic life in the state, reputed fashion designer Krishna Mehta has collaborated with the Manipur Department of Commerce & Industries for her upcoming show at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.
 
Indian Textile Day Workshop:An informative and inspiring workshop will be held on Indian Textile Day at Talent Box during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. Under the guidance of esteemed moderator Sujata Assomull, this session will assure an intriguing dialog between industry stalwarts as they debate issues on Indian textiles and its boundless possibilities.
 

 Launched in August 2011, Talent Box has been re-designed to promote cutting-edge innovative, young and emerging design talent. Based on an international concept, this dynamic space will be a hub for design talent where 20 young designers will be seen in mini preview shows. With dedicated show directors, stylist and improved music, Talent Box will provide an enhanced experience. It will also host, designer previews, exhibitions and workshops throughout the week.
 

 This season will see participation by some of India’s most celebrated designers namely Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anita Dongre, Ranna Gill, Ritu Kumar, Vikram Phadnis, Rocky S, Rahul Mishra in addition to others.

 Carefully selected young and upcoming talent will showcase their creations across the categories of Gen Next, Talent Box and Emerging designers this season. 35 designers will show across these categories, of which Gen Next comprises of 5 new designers while Talent Box and Emerging will host 20 and 10 up and coming talent respectively.

 The 9th Edition of the Fashion Workshop Series (FWS) will focus on the evolution of men’s fashion in India. The session will bring together some of the biggest names in men’s fashion and retail  to share key insights on India’s fastest growing apparel segment.
 After a tremendously successful Summer/Resort 2013 season, Lakmé Fashion Week will set new benchmarks in the upcoming edition of Winter/Festive 2013. Promising to be high on the fashion quotient this season will exhibit some core attributes of being the country’s only collaborative, inclusive and innovative platform.
