Kavita Tulsian launches her signature store

Also for the first time Mrs. Jayasri Sorcar – wife of PC Sorcar (Junior) displayed the range of collection today from the hot couture of Kavita Tulsian along with her celebrity daughters, Moubani and Mumtaz.
The collections are for the contemporary global woman. The clothing line comes with an experimental adventure for the modern woman. They incorporate designs and colours in a manner that enhances the beauty of the female form. The store comes with collections ranging from Indian Ethnic, Bridal Sarees and Fancy Lehangas.
As is the case with a number of things, ‘Westernization’ has had its impact on Indian clothing as well. A significant part of the Indian population has turned to Western garments such as jeans, trousers, skirts, T-shirts, suits and shirts, and prefers them over traditional clothing such as sarees and dhotis.
There is, however, a certain section of the population that prefers to stick to traditional Indian clothing. Interestingly in the last decade, a beautiful amalgamation of Indian and Western clothing has become popular, which has come to be known as 'Indo-Western' garments or 'Indo-Western fusion' garments.
Indo-Western fusion garments are being largely preferred by Indian consumers and have now become a lifestyle choice. These garments are gaining acceptance in the Indian mindset and fast becoming the choice of apparels at formal and informal events, and even for office wear.

Her ‘signature style’ is “Indian Ethnic Wear” where she combines Indian embroideries with contemporary and immaculate western styling. Her designs are chic, modern and extremely wearable. Her silhouettes are well balanced and quite sensual and the embroideries are well engineered. She has a flair for pleating and she uses a lot of embroidered appliqué in her creations.
Kavita Tulsian believes in constant evolution of style in her garments and she keeps her signature style intact, she makes her subsequent collection a totally different one from her previous collection. She has a flair for creating different embroideries and loves to texture the fabric in use. In her collections, she experiments with silhouettes and tries her hands on draping to add the final touch to her creations.
She has participated in the fashion show organized by IIFT at Jamshedpur in April 2008 as Guest Designer where amongst others; her garments were adorned by the Miss World (Runners-Up) 2008 – Ms Parvati Omnakuttam and the Miss India (Earth) 2008 – Ms Tanvi Vyas. Amidst huge media attention and coverage, Kavita showcased her Indian ethnic collection titled “My Best Friend’s wedding”.
Coming to the reasons as to why Indo-Western fusion fashion has become so popular in India, the designer said, “Indo-Western garments have an elegant and trendy appearance, without losing the touch of Indian culture, making them suitable for wearing at all kinds of occasions. They are the perfect blend of elements from both Indian and Western cultures, balancing both, i.e. neither too Westernized nor too ethnically Indian. It is, thus, suitable for wear by almost all age groups, and is all the rage among the youngsters in India today.”So, the next time you are out, shopping for something trendy but comfortable to wear, don't forget to stop for a few pieces of Indo-Western fusion wear.
