The Rosenthal form Aida was the most important service of the Thirties. It could be found in the majority of the diplomatic embassies, in the Vatican and with highly elaborate decorations in many royal households.

Aida quickly became the representative service of all high-class households.

The various pieces of Aida are always taken from the appropriate examples of the history of civilization. The hollow-ware for instance is reminiscent of Chinese tea-dishes and the coffee pot Greek wine goblets.

The aim was to find optimal crafts forms which had developed over hundreds or even thousands of years. With particular deference to earlier generations, the porcelain craftsmen translated these forms, using their own materials.

This service was named after the opera Aida, which Giuseppe Verdi composed for the opening ceremony of the Suez Carnal in 1859.

Apart from the central hollow-ware with their rather feminine form, the lids above all are characteristic of AIDA they are stylized pine cones.
