THE TULSI SILKS ‘WOVEN TALES OF KANCHIPURAM’ BY SANTOSH PAREKH MADE A SENSATIONAL DEBUT AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER FESTIVE 2016

Tulsi Silks from Chennai creators of the magnificent Kanchivaram saris by Santosh Parekh made a sensational historic ramp debut at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 with 36 saris and for the first time classic lehenga, choli, dupatta sets created from specially woven Kanchivaram saris.

 

Called ‘Woven Tales of Kanchipuram’ the collection by Tulsi Silks whose tag line is ‘From Weave to Wow’, showcased mind blowing visions of the 6-yard wonder that made the women in the audience long to own them. Presented in five segments the show was a kaleidoscope of weaves in rainbow colours, patterns and expertise in designs.

 

The show opened to the gentle strains of live Carnatic music by an expert quartet that performed through the show as the models glided down the ramp.

 

THE SILVER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS COLLECTION: Weaving in the beauty of the various musical instruments in the luxurious pure white and black silk with silver as the highlight, the collection was a rich line of opulence. Musical instruments were scattered on the sari or in clusters on the pallav to create a magical effect on the fabric.

 

THE GOLD ANIMAL COLLECTION: Blending the glitter of gold with the majesty of animals, the collection was a regal sophisticated option that dazzled on the catwalk. Lions, peacocks, and horses were beautifully woven into the sari to create superbly crafted saris.

 

THE PASTEL SILVER COLLECTION: Going for soft tones of pastel hues with a lavish use of silver, the saris were ideal for festivities that required arresting fashion entries.

 

THE REVIVAL COLLECTION: Aimed at collectors of timeless fashion, The Revival Collection recreated the glory of designs that were timeless and will be adored in the 21st   century. Beautiful designs of the past were brought to the ramp in shades of gold, red, yellow purple, full red or gold and soft as well as bright hues.

 

THE GOLD BRIDAL COLLECTION: The sensational all gold Kanchivaram bridal collection was the piece-de- resistance of the show and definitely what the bride will long for on the most important day in her life. Gorgeous glittering gold came alive on the pure silks with hints of colour to highlight the wedding trousseau look for the bride to cherish.

 

THE TRADITONAL BRIDAL CREATIONS: The four bridal lehenga, choli and dupatta collections in black, white and silver as well as red and purple; the bridal creations were in classic shapes but with specially engineered and woven fabrics as the base. Never in the history of Kanchivaram sari has this fashionable trio been attempted and exhibited on the ramp.

 

Making a graceful entry on the ramp was the lovely Dia Mirza who glided down in a silver/black musical instruments sari and matching blouse to close the very fabulous show dedicated to the luxurious traditional garment that was presented in all its glory on the ramp.

 

The Tulsi Silks “Woven Tales of Kanchipuram” by Santosh Parekh was an everlasting fashion story that will remain forever in the wardrobes of stylish dressers.
