Cotton Council International launches reality TV-based design competition

Cotton Council International (CCI) launches Let’s Design Season 2, a unique, one of its kind, design based reality competition that gives an opportunity for young, zealous designers to showcase the best of their talent in the world of fashion designing by using cotton as a fabric. The reality series will premier on the leading entertainment and lifestyle channel, Zoom.

The launch of Let’s Design Season 2 is supported by an extensive college outreach programme and an intensive radio and print campaign inviting aspiring designers to send their sketches on the theme -  ‘Get cool with Cotton in Retro Look’.

Based on their sketches and designs, an eminent panel of experts will select participants who will be given a chance to bring their creations to life at the Regional Rounds being held in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Shortlisted contestants from each region will go on to compete in the Reality House in Mumbai where they will stay under one roof and will be given various on-the-spot tasks to test their skills, acumen and passion. Participants will be eliminated based on their performance during the tasks and the finalists will present their collection at a Grand Finale ramp show in Mumbai on the 9th of January, 2010.

The participants will get an opportunity to be mentored by the crème de la crème of the fashion world. The best of the lot enter the quest to become the brand ambassador of CCI in India and will be awarded a trip to one of the fashion capitals of the world – New York, Paris, or Milan to learn the latest trends in fashion design and technology. In store is also a trip to Hong Kong for the first runner-up and exciting cash prizes.

Commenting on Let’s Design Season 2, Sachit Bhatia, Senior Manager Representative, Cotton Council International, South Asia, says, “With the overwhelming success of season 1 of Lets Design, our endevour is to encourage aspiring designers to push the boundaries of creativity and design and bring their best to the ramp. We hope to create a meaningful dialogue with the design community through Lets Design Season 2.”

Those aspiring to participate in the design competition can do so by registering themselves online at www.allaboutcotton.com and uploading their design sketches on the site. Design submissions will be accepted until December 07, 2009.
