FDCI LAUNCHES PEARLS DELHI COUTURE WEEK

Opening a new chapter within the realm of Indian fashion, FDCI announced the launch of its new fashion initiative – Pearls Delhi Couture Week from 20-25 July 2010 to be held at The Grand. Breaking the barrier of regions and working across geographies, India’s leading couturiers will showcase their collections on the ramp and through installations.

Pearls Delhi Couture Week is backed by title sponsor Pearls Group, and partners like the award winning Signature brand from United Spirits and P7. Pearls Delhi Couture Week draws extraordinary talent from the hallmarks of Indian fashion and designers who bring with them creativity and commercial viability.

Welcoming the sponsor and partners and designers, said Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, "The Pearls Delhi Couture Week is another important milestone for the fashion industry as we bring the best couturiers to create an exclusive platform in the wake of increasing demand for this segment. With the onset of the ‘great Indian wedding’ and ‘the grand festivals of India’, the time is ripe for an event of such a magnitude, as the fashion industry witnesses maximum sales and large scale orders. With the first edition, I believe that the confidence and trust of our sponsors and partners will grow stronger as we move forward towards our primary agenda – the grand celebration of Indian fashion.”

Said M.L. Sehjpal, Director PIPL, “The Pearls Group has been built on a passion for excellence and a commitment towards developing India’s resources and future.  Central to our real estate business is the belief that style and design should be at the heart of the buildings we create. Therefore, it was a natural decision for the Pearls Group to support this event which celebrates the very best in design and style, through shows by the established leaders of Indian fashion.  We are very pleased that the Pearls Delhi Couture Week brings the very best in Indian fashion to people in Delhi and across the country."

Jyoti Narain, Director P7 News also shares the same view and said, “Pearls has supported fashion for the past 3 years through our P7 channel and with this we take a bigger step ahead. We expect to have our ambassador Brett Lee attend the event and am sure he will be as excited as anyone to see the magnificent creations on display.”

Said Debashish Shyam, Divisional Vice President – Marketing, United Spirits Limited, "Signature stands for impeccable style, discernment and potency. In the past, we have been associated with some of the finest lifestyle platforms in fashion, entertainment and premium sports, which are truly the choice of the bold and beautiful. Pearls Delhi Couture Week is set to be one of the biggest fashion extravaganzas the industry has seen, making it an apt platform for Signature to associate with."
