Lakmé Fashion Week advisory board announces the Zovi Gen Next, emerging and accessory designers for LFW summer/resort 2013

True to its motto of developing  fashion creativity and promoting the business of fashion, the advisory board members of Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW), India met to select the Zovi Gen Next, Emerging, and Accessory Show  Designers for the upcoming Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013.  

The event is scheduled to be held between March, 22 to 26, 2013 at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. This season has also witnessed the number of applications submission across the three categories increase by 24% in comparison to the previous season of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.
While the Zovi Gen Next category received 153 applications marking a growth of 42% from the previous season; Emerging and Accessory categories also recorded 10% and 7 % growth respectively.





A total of 217 applications came in from outside of Mumbai and while the city contributed to 68 applications respectively across categories.

As a testament to the strength of the platform, 5 Gen Next Alumni of Lakmé Fashion Week from the 2010 through 2012 batches were selected to showcase their collections this season as emerging designers
A total of 20 designers were shortlisted and announced by the Lakmé Fashion Week Advisory Board.

An intriguing mix of achievers, who represent diverse backgrounds of the fashion fraternity help facilitate LFW with greater opportunities as well as showcase a holistic perspective to the business aspect. The Advisory Board members present at the meeting were designers Anamika Khanna, Manish Mahotra, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Krishna Mehta, Rohit Bal along with Priya Tanna – Editor Vogue, Satya Saran – Columnist, Sujata Assomull Sippy- Columnist, Gaurav Mahajan- COO Westside, Pradeep Hirani- Kimaya, Ashu Jindal – COO IMG Reliance, Purnima Lamba- Lakmé Head Innovations and Saket Dhankar-Head Fashion, IMG Reliance.

This season will mark the 15th batch of the Gen Next platform and the increased number of entries along with the continued growth of the program’s alumni reaffirms the platform’s stature in terms of relevance and reach in the global fashion market”.
