Sun Jewels Designed Collections By Nine Talented Graduates From The National Institute Of Design At The India International Jewellery Week 2013

Sun Jewels in the forefront of innovation presented collections by nine National Institute of Design graduates at a scintillating show during, the India International Jewellery Week 2013. It was a breath taking line of innovative jewellery that had unique creative touches. Five collections comprising five entries each kept the audience enthralled with the high level of out of the box thinking.

COPPEREREA BY RAVI ANAND
The assemblage of jewellery expressions commenced with Copperereca by Ravi Anand, which was a mesmeric collection of forms found in nature and created from copper and the areca nut, which formed the centre point of the round discs. Turned into several versions of earrings, bracelets, brooches, waistbands and rings, there were cascading circles from the neck or draped string necklaces to create extreme accessories.

PERAMBICUBE BY ANKITA SHARMA, SWATI KUJUR AND SAMIR SAURABH
It was an affair of square and cubes in metal,  that gave new meaning to neckpieces, rings, ear ornaments, bracelets, armlets a very innovative brooch-cum-belt, cuffs and abstract neckpiece. The geometric outlines of the two shapes though delicate in appearance, were high on visual appeal.

MYSTICURVE BY GAURAV TATHODE
When copper and brass came together the inspiration had to be the feminine aura, which resembled mounds of metal for an assortment of rings, pendants, hoops for ears, anklets, diagonal slanting entwined circles and a waistband of varying sizes.

KOKUNA BY NAZUK KESHAN
The magical transformation of metal wire evolving into cocoon like structures for ornaments with round balls played a major role in the designs. Rings, shoulder drapes, armlets, chokers and statement neckpieces flowed over the shoulders and was eye catching in beauty and appearance.

ETHERAGAMI BY MEHAK SHARMA, SHRINIVSAN AND VINAY KUMAR
Using gold mesh for the five entries, the abstract 3D designs for the bangles, moulded neck circles, belts, head piece, brooches, belts, the slanting shoulder drape, finger rings and half draped necklace caused a sensation amongst the audience.

To match the stark but very arresting beauty of the accessories, the clothes were a mono colour offering in black for the draped gowns by designer James Ferreira.

Here was a line of jewellery that will undoubtedly appeal to stylish fashion conscious women, who want to make a “conversation stopping” entry at any event.
