Colgate-Palmolive & IDA to create a Guinness World Record in India

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, the market leader in oral care, in association with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) announced that it is attempting to create a Guinness World Record™ in India for the maximum number of dental check-ups conducted on the same day (multiple venues) at over 10 different locations across New Delhi and Chennai.

The Guinness World Record™ attempt saw dental check-up camps being set-up by Colgate and IDA in New Delhi and Chennai, where dentists conducted free dental check-ups for school children in the city.

Leading actress Karisma Kapur and southern superstar Shriya Saran flagged-off the camps in New Delhi and Chennai respectively and cheered the children who participated in the record-breaking attempt. “I am extremely pleased to be present here today and witness a momentous occasion. The enthusiasm of the children, the dentists and everyone present here is testimony to the seriousness of the attempt,” said Karisma Kapur.

Organised as part of Oral Health Month 2010 (OHM), this world record attempt is aimed at generating awareness about the importance of oral health especially among children. Dr. L. Krishna Prasad, President and Dr. Ashok Dhoble, Hon. Secretary General, the Indian Dental Association was also present at the event.

Mr. Rajesh Krishnamurthy, VP Marketing, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited said, “It has also has been our aim, to ensure that we add a new dimension every year to Oral Health Month. In its 7th edition, this year, we plan to really take a giant leap by making the free dental check-ups initiative bigger and better with the attempt of the Guinness World Record™. I would like to thank the dental fraternity, without whom this initiative would not have been possible.”
