Asian Paints launched their latest colour trends for the New Year titled Colour Next 09, at a high profile event. It is a research based annual trend forecasting initiative, studying lifestyle trends and predicting colours that will rule interiors this year.

The themes named Metropolis, Earth Song, Indigene, Multiplicity and Homepage were revealed at a gathering of the country’s leading architects and interior designers.

Presenting each of the five themes were eminent personalities, all leading design experts. Ambrish Arora unveiled the Metropolis theme. Varun Sardanha presented Indigene while David Abraham took the audience through the theme Earth Song. Marut Sikka introduced Multiplicity and Jiten Thakral & Amit Tagra spoke of the colours that the theme Homepage consists of. Well known dance troupe S.T.E.M -Space.Time.Energy.Movement. interpreted the various themes.

Unveiling the Colour Next 09 book, Amit Syngle, Vice President, Sales & Marketing said, "Asian Paints initiated Colour Next six years ago to study colour trends that are specific to the Indian market. Today, Colour Next is probably one of the most comprehensive trend researches done in the area of colour. The uniqueness of the entire process stems from the fact that thought leaders from varied disciplines come together to articulate the trends and colour palettes."

The 5 Themes for Colour Next 09 are:

Indigene: - Consisting of earthy tone and shades, they represent the colours that best describe India.

Earth Song:- It resonates softer colours that have a soothing effect, think environmental friendliness.

Multiplicity: - A melting pot of colours.  It makes way for contrasting shades, subdued tones and everything in between.

Homepage: - Colours that dominate the virtual world and cyber space. Of the digital era, the theme is inspired by the Gen - Y.

Metropolis: - These are dominating colours that speak the bold language of the urban individual.
