For the first time in India, a fashion week will see participation of more than 10 International designers showcasing their collections and 10 international beauty Pageant Winners from various countries walking the runway.

The event, Chennai International Fashion Week (CIFW) is being backed by a very strong and accomplished board of professionals. Headed by marketing and services professional Gaurav Sharma, the team's advisors include Chennai’s very own Shakthi Girsh, Pratap Pothen , Arun Mammen , Girish Ramdass and Meera Chopra. Advisors from outside Chennai include Jamshed Mistry, Atul Kelkar, Sandip Soparkkar, Sangeeta Sadarangani, Francois Lavergene, Vipul Mathur, Arjun Bajwa, Mehar Bhasin, Anupama Varma and Rahul Dev Shetty.

Designer Pria Kataaria Puri is going to be opening the show with Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra as her show stopper. CIFW will have show stoppers from all walks of life walking the run way. Cine stars, sports personalities, common achievers, international personalities … All will feature on the run way.

In its first edition, it has been strategically placed in Chennai for its proximity to Tirupur; one of the largest garment export hub in India. And also, because of the Storm Fashion Company’s management team’s belief in Chennai consumer capabilities, media interest and designer’s seeking an untapped Indian metro city for creating a new fashion destination.

“The newness of the city location, the accessibility to Tirupur and the response from the fashion fraternity and clients made us choose Chennai as the location for India’s first international fashion week. And we are most happy to bring international fashion to Chennai this December,” says Gaurav Sharma, Producer, CIFW.

This is going to be a strictly White Collar affair and entry is through invitation only. Only crème de la crème of the society shall make it to the coveted list. The Event will have a very high glamour and glitz quotient. The audience at the shows will comprise of fashion critics, fashion editors, buyers, corporate honchos, page3 community, models and film stars.

“Being a Chennaiite, I have witnessed the style quotient of the city grow leaps and bounds in the last 10 years. Yes we finally have the fashion week here. And as an image consultant I am happy to share my experience and marketing inputs,” says Pratap Pothen, advisor, CIFW.
