Café Morrison’s celebrates 8 thrilling years

It was memorable! It was nostalgic! It was historic! It was Café Morrison’s eighth anniversary on the eight of May’13. The night witnessed a gala event to celebrate the journey of EIGHT exultant years of spreading music to the rock hearted souls of the capital. The who’s who of the Rock fraternity and the stalwarts of the café were present to celebrate the occasion.

Commenting on the occasion, Aayush Bhatia, Co-Founder- Café Morrison, said, “In these 8 splendid years, we have seen ups and downs, highs and lows. But one belief that we all shared was- Café Morrison. Never thought we would make it this far. Where we go from here is the big question. But we know that there are many more anniversaries of Café Morrison to come.”

Famous as the Delhi’s Mecca of rock music, Café Morrison was started 8 years back in 2005 when 3 DJs- Sidharth Talwar, Aneesh Khanna and Aayush Bhatia got together with a common belief that the place will be more than just business to them and it would be a place, which will be unpretentious, thriving on people and their genuine love for music.

DJ Sidharth Talwar, Co-Founder and in-house DJ- Café Morrison, while mixing sound in the console said, “8 years--- it was an awesome journey. You can’t imagine what it means to us when people out of the crowd come up and take the mic away just to say a few words about Café Morrison. Every inch, every iota of it was worth. In the words of Bob Dylan, “Don’t think twice, its allright”

Aneesh Khanna, Co-Founder Café Morrison, further added, “Café Morrison is a family of people who love music.  The café opens its doors to everyone who loves music, to all rock hearted souls. Since inception till now, we have earned our own battery of loyalists who, visit us every week beyond the new faces that come over and keep coming in. So, I take a chance today to thank all our guests and followers for believing in us and accepting us because without them Café Morrison would not have been what it is today!”

With time, Café Morrison became the platform for young musicians to come and express their music. Popular bands like Half Step Down, Lazy River, October, Undying Inc , Joint Family, Rohit Kulkarni who is now a part of Think Floyd (to name a few) did one of their first gigs at Cafe Morrison.

International bands like Air Supply, Jasmine, The Riptide Movement and many others have done their jamming sessions and also performed at Café Morrison. The place has also hosted and earned applauds from the famous Pakistani Rock bands- Jal and Junoon. Cafe Morrison became the place for models and members of rock bands to come and chill. Zero did their last act before splitting up and their first act after re-uniting, at Cafe Morrison. Ehsan Noorani of Shankar Ehsan Loy has also performed with the famous Delhi rock band Them Clones on the occasion of Delhi's First ever Fender's Night which was attended by Fender's (VP of one of the biggest guitar makers in the world).

Cafe Morrison also takes pride in celebrating the life, ideology and music of class musicians of the world like Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Iron Maiden, Michael Jackson to name a few.
