Rosenthal meets Versace

‘Le Jardin de Versace,’ is the name for Versace’s bewitching pattern on the Ikarus shape. Bright and colourful flowers, butterflies fluttering and joyous, so motley in shape and size, soft pastel colours, cherries stunningly red, berries in earthy tones, sinuous ornamentation drawn from another epoch, all this decks the plates, bowls, and cups of the service.

The whole is set in lustrous gold, reminiscent in style of the sumptuous gardens of France’s Sun King. ‘Le Jardin de Versace’: a dream in porcelain, in harmonious, fashion colours steeped in romanticism, a pattern in love with nature.

Delicate turquoise and deep red, lots of gold, blue and green taken through the most varied of nuances give the pattern a lightness of being, the rustle of spring, imagination given wing. Aptly set on the Ikarus shape with its elliptical handles, symbol of the wing, the shape was specially developed by Paul Wunderlich for the luxurious and exuberant Versace patterns.

The intense colours with the gold of the ornamentation are a quotation from an earlier age in an expression of an unalloyed love of life. The design elements are kept almost naturalistic and lovingly small, a constant source of new discovery, with no detail the same.
