1. The Jewels: Gold, an intrinsic element of our culture is at the core of the narrative of The Jewels. An extension to the art and the tradition of adornment, the thematic presentation fuses together the shades of gold, with an emphasis on accentuating the multiplicity and diversity of gold, while preserving its purity and essence.
Every look focuses on the integration of gold through gold-plated detailing highlighted against pastels like sea green, powder blue and ivory on diverse fabrics like heavy crepe, duchesse satin and silk dupions to recreate the Indian sensibilities in western silhouettes.
2. The Light Fantastic: Much like the kaleidoscopic lights from the famous Lights Festival in Belgium and Paris, Light Fantastic is a physical translation of the fantastical imagery of the festival through the most intricate and finest embroideries.
Sequins of different sizes and proportions translate and mimic the light bulbs, recreating the geometric and abstract patterns. Luxurious fabrics like velvets and silk dupions in a darker color palette including maroons, blacks and emerald greens, form the perfect base to simulate the prismatic effects.
3. The Peacock: With the architectural magnificence of The Peacock Room in Castello di Sammezzano in Tuscany, Italy as the key inspiration, The Peacock Story is revisiting ‘old school Manish Arora’.
Multicolor stripes, gold rexine embroideries, and 3D highlights on bases of bright color are some of the elements that bring alive the psychedelic referencing. Appliqué, zari, peacock textures and traditional embroideries harmoniously weave in the Indian aesthetic with the European sensibility.
4. The Crown: An epitome of luxury and opulence, The Crown story derives inspiration from the majestic crowns worn historically by the monarchs across the world. The elaborate designs translate beautifully and delicately as the thematic representation unfolds a more feminine perspective and context.
A rendition of this symbol of royalty, watercolor bases of beige, blues and greens with fine and intricate gold and pearl embroideries, placement patterns and motifs feature through the collection.
5. Temari: A time-honoured tradition of Japan, the beautifully intricate temari is a celebrated craft by the Japanese aristocracy.
The sharp and detailed technique was transformed into chip embroidery to illustrate the art of temari through its geometric and futuristic patterns. With thousands of chips used to create one ensemble, each ½ centimeter chip has been manually cut and tucked.
Highlighting the techniques through the constant base colours of black, white and gold, each garment is distinguished by a special color ranging from emerald green and fuchsia, to red and electric blue, with accents of pearls and gold embroidery.
6. Iridescent: An ode to the love of sheer, iridescent is an especially crafted miniature story that is evocative of the fragility and translucence of the delicate gossamer fabrics, the key feature and the focus of the story.
The story is a culmination of the Manish Arora aesthetic with opalescent embroideries in traditional Indian motifs and patterns on diaphanous fabrics. Iridescent is a precursor and a conclusion, the pièce de résistance that unfolds into something never seen before.
