Lalit Dalmia unveils his new bridal collection ‘14

Luxurious, sensuous and colourful, Nikah-e-Khas, a new collection for 2014 bridal season by designer Lalit Dalmia was launched recently. The collection marks the infusion of colours, embellishments and fabric, brought together by inspiration from Mughal inspired motifs.

The designer showcased his latest bridal collection at the Sufiyana-e-Sham on the tunes of Nizami Bandhus at Vivanta by Taj, Surajkund on Saturday, 18th October 2014. Rajan Ratra, Dinesh Gumber, Madhur Aneja, Namita Ratra, Meeta Anerja, Meeta Singh, Meenu Chadha, Shalu Ratra, designer Sagarika Goel were present at the sufiyana evening.

Each ensemble defined sophistication and glamour with classic designs and embroideries receiving a modern twist. “I once attended someone’s Nikah, the rituals, the colours around and the serenity of the pardah touched me so much that I decided to do a special line of bridal wardrobe, which will not only have lehengas but will also have graceful shararas for the brides” says the designer.

Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, sequins, tassels and beads along with fine embroidery in gold and silver threads complete each look. The perfect blend of traditional and modern designs, essentially glamorous, yet very wearable can be seen through the use of embellishments and fabrics.

The use of georgettes, chiffons, satin silks and nets make each silhouette very wearable, sensual and thus complementing the look of the garment. Shararas and lehengas worked upon with intricate thread-work and feminine drapes, made for ‘That day of a girl’s life’. The showcased lehengas, gowns and shararas were given a contemporary and modern feel this season with a lot of colour and texture blending.

The color fiesta could be seen through the vast palette of colours used in the designs by Lalit Dalmia. Wide range of pastels and primary colour tones were complemented with metallic hues, antique textures and India inspired Motifs. Also a wide range of warm tones like reds, oranges were seen. The collection also had a dash of blues to appease the ever so stylish Dalmia’s collection.

Lalit Dalmia’s designs focused on styling the modern Indian woman in relaxed couture with a global appeal. Indian couture is given an experimental draping and a vibrant palette of colours.
