‘Royal Box’ by La Martina, the historic naval uniform wears a wetsuit

Inspired by the formal dress code of Guards Polo Club, founded in 1955 by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, comes La Martina’s ‘Royal Box’ capsule collection. The 2015 A/W edition focuses on resenting impeccable tailoring and modern materials, such as the stretchy synthetic rubber commonly used in wetsuits.

The previously enshrined uniform is finally set free, transformed into a garment infused with rock. The British hallmark of style has been redefined; the uniform boasts comfort and casual luxury, perfect to be worn with jeans.

The palette hinges on unsaturated navy blue tones; the contrasting brandy insets on the sleeve highlight the bronzed buttons on the double-breasted front.

La Martina’s distinctive logo here becomes a military decoration.

The ‘Royal Box’ look, spearhead of the Guards Polo Club collection, is dictated by the elegant sobriety of HRH Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth I. Stripped of military rigidity, the more relaxed tweed - preferred cloth of country gentlemen - encapsulates British style.

The colours are enriched with touches of burnished gold wire and highlighted with rhinestones and sequins, thus reworking the original Guards uniform into a contemporary equivalent.
