The peculiar weather conditions during the monsoons make it a tricky time to maintain a beautiful appearance. While the humidity takes a toll on your hair, skin and wardrobe, the seasonal winds can give you a cold! The stunning Nargis Fakhri shares tips from her daily routine during monsoons, to help you cope with the wet spell and maintain your pretty-self.
Hair care: I need a beauty regime that guarantees results. In monsoons my hair become unmanageable as the moisture in the air swells up the hair. I get the ultimate conditioning benefit by a 20 minutes deep conditioning treatment with hot coconut based hair oil. It works wonders for my tresses. It is also important to keep your scalp dry during monsoons as dampness leads to hair fall. I always try to carry an umbrella, while I step out in rains to ensure my hair isn’t exposed to the rain water.
Skin care: Cleansing and moisturising the skin is very important during monsoons. All my skincare products are light so as to allow my skin to breathe in the humid weather. I never skip moisturising my skin with a natural ingredients based moisturiser. This beauty ritual is important in all seasons. Last but not the least, drinking plenty of water is always a good idea as it keeps skin hydrated and supple.
Monsoon wear: Clothes made of any light fabric, which can be dried easily are perfect for monsoons. Cottons are my personal favourite. I avoid wearing light coloured clothes as getting rid of mud stains can be a task. Plus, carrying a napkin always comes in handy, if you ever receive an unexpected splash!
Healthy diet: The common cold and flu become a bit too common during monsoons. Herbal tea keeps me warm and strengthens my immune system. Seasonal fruits, such as cherries and litchees are delicious and nutritious at the same time. Also, I try to avoid eating out and carry home cooked meals to my shoots. During monsoons one can find vegetable preparations in my tiffin and hot soups too!
