Prince Jewellery unveils ancient secrets

Prince Jewellery, one of Chennai's most innovative jewellers, brings the latest edition of Ancient traditions, an exhibition featuring the very best of Indian antique jewellery collection.  The exhibition will witness an array of unique and rare collection from a bygone era. Relish in pieces long forgotten from Chettinadu, Malabar and Travancore era.

 

Ancient secrets starts off at Prince Jewellery, Jayanagar Showroom from 6th August to 24th August 2014. Each piece in the collection of unique antique masterpieces comes with an eternal story that forever resonates through generation. A must see for the younger generation.

 

Ancient secrets has several masterpieces which includes, Rakkodi, Nagas long haaram and pendants with deities as motifs, Ruby Addigai, Makara kanti haram, Thali from Chettinad and Coorg, neckwear from Mangalore, Kalgi, Mullai Mottu Malai, ear pieces, chuttis, bangles, Vanki, odiyanam,…etc.

About Prince:

Prince Jewellery was started by Princeson Jose in 1983, and has established its name in the industry for its contemporary designs in lightweight gold as well as antique jewellery. Jose hails from a family that entered the gold business in 1933 when his grandfather commissioned a goldsmith in his textiles and spices shop in Ponkunnam village in Kottayam district. In 1958, his father established a store in Chennai, and soon after, a manufacturing unit in Trishur, which led to their establishing a wholesale business in gold.

 

A third-generation jeweller, Princeson Jose and his wife Sheeba Prince are passionate about antique jewellery and diligently add to their collection – named The Ancient Treasures – during their travels. The efforts of this year-long diligence is ‘Ancient Secrets’.

 

Prince Jewellery, started with a 650 square feet showroom in Panagal Park, T.Nagar in 1983. Today, the showroom has grown to 10,000 square feet, and in prime area of Cathedral Road, one of Chennai’s sought after shopping areas.

 

In 2008, showrooms were opened in Trivandrum, followed by one in Bangalore in 2009.

Jose’s wife Sheeba Prince takes care of merchandising while sons Joseph Prince and Antony Prince – a certified gemmologists – head the brand’s gems business.
