First ever Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in Delhi

Delhi will host the first ever International Frisbee Tournament on 5 – 6, November  2011. The two day event will witness 14 teams. The Ultimate Delhight 2011 Frisbee Tournament will take place in the amazing Delhi National stadium (Tau Devi Lal).

14 Teams with one flying disc and no referee, the Ultimate Frisbee is one of the few sports where both men and women can play together. Ultimate Tournaments and the Delhi Team – Stray dogs in Sweaters has been instrumental in bringing Ultimate to Delhi.  Mr. Varun Chawla, member of the ‘Stray Dogs in Sweaters’  is also the Director of MyGuestHouse.net and has been participating since his college days at Cornell.MyGuestHouse.net is also the official travel partner of the event.

“Though only 50 years old, Ultimate has rapidly acquired new fans and the fast growing sport with participations from various professions like Students, Expats, Doctors, Entrepreneurs, Consultants and Professionals, the tournament is expected to witness about 300 players and 1500 spectators. The Ultimate Frisbee incorporates aspects of basketball, soccer and rugby to form a no-contact sport where seven players in two opposing teams score points by passing the Frisbee to a teammate in the opponents' end zone.

While Frisbee fever may not have quite caught on in the land of the IPL, there is a growing interest in the game, with cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Pune having dedicated Ultimate teams which participate in interstate tournaments.
