péro by Aneeth Arora showcases for the second edition of ‘Huts to High street’

péro by aneeth arora was invited to showcase for the second edition of 'Huts to High street', an initiative by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) to make khadi fashionable again. This special showcasing was in association with the Gujarat State Khadi and Village Industries Board on October 30, 2015 at IIM, Ahmedabad. péro was one of the four designers that presented modern silhouettes and innovation in design using hand spun and woven textiles.

The péro collection has used various traditional textile techniques from Gujarat like ajrakh, bandhani and indigo resist block printing on khadi, silk, wool and cotton. The silhouettes are also inspired by what the local people wear in the rural parts of Gujarat. There are several interpretations of the kediyu, which is commonly worn in the remote areas of Kutch in Gujarat.

about péro

péro means ‘to wear’ in Marwari, which is the local language of Rajasthan. péro interprets international aesthetic using local material and skills, taking inspiration from what surrounds us, to make a product that connects with people, wherever in the world it is placed. The indianess of ‘péro rests in the textile process, where materials pass through the hands of one craftsperson to the other, belonging to different parts of India carrying forward the Indian tradition of the hand made, and creating pieces that are at once unique.
